KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 – Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has leapt 36 places from its 2017 performance and is now ranked at 114 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2018.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib said UTP was proud of the achievement and it would continue to strive up the rankings.
“This achievement bears testimony of our hard work and diligence in support of the university´s journey towards achieving global prominence,” he said in a statement here today.
Also in the list are Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
UTP said despite its young age of 21 years, the university continuously achieved excellence that was proven through its improved position and placed itself among the more established universities such as UM, USM, UKM, USM and UTM.
The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2018 uses the same 13 performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, but the weightings are specially recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asian institutions.
The universities are judged across all of their core missions, which are teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income in order to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available. – BERNAMA
