Sg.Kandis By Elections- An Acid Test for BN- MIC Youth

21st July 2018

It has been almost 3 months since the 14th General Elections and today was the nominations for the first by elections since then. Barisan Nasional has fielded Datuk Lokman Noor Adam as it’s candidate in the DUN Sg.Kandis by elections. He will face a 3 corner fight between PKR and an independent candidate.

Datuk Lokman is a familiar figure in UMNO as well as Barisan Nasional. He has always been vocal and never afraid to raise issues. He is someone who would call a spade, a spade. I trust BN has made the right choice of candidate in him and I wish him the very best in the upcoming contest.

That being said, it is an acid test for the Barisan Nasional coalition itself. With UMNO, MCA and MIC still holding the fort of the coalition, this by election should be treated as a test of paradigm in determining the unity amongst the coalition parties, regardless of the election results.

We all know that many lies and manipulations were played by the then opposition to win the hearts of the people. One good example was distortion of facts in regards to GST. We have also heard from the horses mouth now that the GST would have served as a more efficient system of tax compared to the present SST. The Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto was merely a placebo without any concrete plan of implementation. This was again reiterated by the Prime Minister himself that the manifesto is not a Bible and merely serves as a guide. This also goes on to prove that the Pakatan Harapan is not serious in keeping up to promises. Also take note that the Barisan government holds a record of fulfilling 97% of its manifesto made prior to GE13.

It is of course undeniable that there will not be a change of government if Barisan Nasional were to win the Sg.Kandis by elections but there will be a stronger opposition voice in the Selangor State Government. Let there be a voice like Datuk Lokman to create check and balance and to fight for rights of the people. I call upon all coalition parties of the Barisan Nasional to come together once again in securing victory in Sg.Kandis.
