Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Razak’s statement in Indian students in varsity is very specific and he had stated challenges to the long outlined target and ways to be on track. So, what is the fuss all about?

This government realises that Indian students intake has been low, had the guts to report that and outlined specific gradual targets to increase these numbers. Isnt that what we want from a government? If you disagree with this then maybe this is not what you are wanting. PM has been consistent with his progress report and this has been reported many times in the media. Let us not be selective and read news like this is the first time we see such matters being spoken.

Let me share you some stats which I boldly challenge anyone to discredit with prove. Since 2009, we have been seeing a positive and steady growth in the number of Indian students studying in Polytechnics reaching 10% today. That’s nearly 9000 students across the nation. This only happened during Najib’s era and it didn’t happen overnight for GE14.

Today, a total of 1500 seats are being offered for Matriculation. A task undertaken only since Najib became the PM in 2009. The Ministry of Education has taken all possible initiatives to fulfill all 1500 seats offered to Indian students. Numbers don’t lie. This only happened during Najib’s era and it didn’t happen overnight for GE14.

A total of 1600 places made available exclusively for Program MDAIM which is targeted for average achievers in Polytechnic. This never existed prior to Najib. This only happened during Najib’s era and it didn’t happen overnight for GE14.

In addition, this government has set up Indus, a scholarship fund to assist Indian students at tertiary level through a public-private partnership with an initial grant of RM 5 million back in 2014, way prior to any election. This only happened during Najib’s era and it didn’t happen overnight for GE14.

To date, IPTA’s have registered an approximate 4.5% Indian students in intakes yearly and this figure is to be increased to 7% as outlined in the Malaysian Indian Blueprint which is being worked on by a special unit under the direct purview of the PM. This is exactly what the article has quoted. This gauge of where we are and where we need to be specifically only happened during Najib’s era and it didn’t happen overnight for GE14.

Statistics on Indian Students Enrolment in Government Institutions;

So, if you want to critic, you should and please proceed to but at the same time be factual and be constructive. If you dont know what you’re talking about, find out from proper sources. You should as this concerns your future but never build a future on lies.
