KUALA LUMPUR: The much awaited Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards is back for its third edition with increased participation from tourism stakeholders.
The triennial award has attracted 449 tourism players to compete in 14 categories available this year.
KL Mayor Datuk Seri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said the main objective of the award is to recognise and reward establishments and individuals who have strived to achieve the highest levels of excellence in their service delivery.
He said the programme also seeks to benchmark players against the highest industry standards.
“This is an effort to encourage more industry players to improve their service culture,” he said at the introduction of the award partners at the Shangri-la Hotel this afternoon.
Among the categorise featured includes accommodation for five-, four-, three-star and budget hotels; dining for fine dining restaurant, home-grown restaurant and food court; tourist attraction for family entertainment; culture, art and heritage; shopping malls; medical tourism; and education tourism. -NST
