The morning downpour caused a flash flood near the Lebuh Bandar Utama-Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) junction during the rush hour, causing a bumper-to-bumper crawl for motorists travelling from Bandar Utama and TTDI heading towards Kota Damansara and Bandar Seri Damansara.

The heavy rain started at about 8am and the junction was flooded shortly after.

Motorist Zyafzan Mohamad Zin, 37, said her car had stalled in the flood waters at about 8.30am.

“When I left the car, the water rose to my waist. I managed to move to higher ground and waited for the water to recede.

The said other motorists had decided not to use the road after they saw her car submerged in the middle of the road.

Zyafzan said the water subsided some 20 minutes later.

Although she could restart her car, there was a damage to her vehicle.

“My husband came and we took the car to a nearby workshop. My car insurance does not cover such damages, which are estimated to cost about RM400 to repair,” said Zyafzan who works as an assistant manager in the investment sector.-STAR
