KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) — Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will be undertaking an official two-day visit to Malaysia starting today upon the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
According to a Wisma Putra statement today, this will be his third visit to Malaysia since his appointment as Prime Minister in 2006.
Nguyen will be accompanied by his wife Tran Thanh Kiem, cabinet ministers and other senior officials.
The Vietnam Prime Minister’s delegation will be received by Deputy Finance Minister cum Minister-in-Attendance Datuk Chua Tee Yong, as well as senior officials from the Foreign Ministry.
The programme of his visit will include a welcoming ceremony, a Restricted Meeting with Najib and followed by a Delegation Meeting in the afternoon.
Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will host an official dinner in honour of the Vietnam Prime Minister.
A one-to-one meeting with Malaysian Corporations will precede the official dinner.
On Saturday, Nguyen is scheduled to meet Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, followed by a Special Dialogue with big corporations in Malaysia and in ASEAN as well as meet representatives of the Vietnamese community here, respectively.
Both Nguyen and Najib are expected to take stock of the progress of the existing bilateral relations and discuss enhancement of many areas of sectoral cooperation of mutual benefits between both countries.
In 2014, Vietnam was Malaysia’s 14th largest trading partner globally and the 4th largest trading partner among other ASEAN countries with total trade between both countries recorded at RM29,601.6 billion (US$9.0 billion).- BERNAMA
