BUTTERWORTH: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein believes the party will bounce back stronger from the current political crisis. Hishammuddin said the party was being attacked from inside and outside. As such, he said the party members should stand united in facing its enemies.
“It is the responsibility of each and every party member to ensure we pull through the current crisis and emerge stronger,” he said when officiating the Umno Permatang Pauh division delegates conference here this afternoon. Hishammuddin said Umno members should take heed of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East to ensure “we do not end up like them”.
“There are currently efforts to inject such elements here. We cannot allow that to happen to us. “We have to understand that the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has caused much hardship to the people there,” he added.
Present were state Umno secretary Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir and Umno Permatang Pauh division chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said. At the event, Hishammuddin also handed aid to 70 pilgrims from Permatang Pauh who will leave for Saudi Arabia soon to perform the Haj. – NST
