Two construction workers were killed, while three others seriously injured when a building under construction in Pulau Sebang at the Negri Sembilan-Malacca border collapsed.
The incident occurred at about 2pm today.It was also understood that at least 15 people were trapped under the rubble.Rescue workers were said to be at the spot trying to get the trapped workers to safetyThe rescue efforts is being led by personnel from Tampin Fire and Rescue Department and assisted by firemen from the Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department.
It was understood that the building under construction is to be a shopping mall.A Tampin police spokesman said the building collapsed from the third floor.“Workers were putting the finishing touches on the third floor, when it happened,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
The spokesman added that it was difficult to say how many workers were trapped as rescue work was on-going.He said the number could be more than initially estimated as there was an underground floor in the building, meant to be for parking. – June 22, 2015.
