PUTRAJAYA: MIC is mentally prepared for the National Consultative Committee for Political Funding (JKNMPP) to ensure the system is put right with transparency, its acting president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said. Dr Subramaniam welcomed the idea mooted by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as it was the best move for the long term for political parties. “The American presidential election is the most expensive election in the world and collects the largest amount of funds.
But they have a system to do it, so we also need to see how we can put a proper system. “This is to allow the political system to run in a transparent manner to avoid problems in the future. “The system will be applicable to everyone not only to Barisan Nasional , the opposition, the present and the future government,” he said. Dr Subramaniam was speaking to reporters after opening the 2nd Health Ministry Scientific Optometry Conference and launching of the Optometry Practitioners Information Management System (OPTims), here, today.
On eye care, Dr Subramaniam, who is also the Health Minister, said it was important for the public to get their examination by a registered and qualified optometry practitioner to avoid incorrect prescription of glasses and risk getting eye infection as a result of wearing contact lens. – NST
