The Royal Malaysia Police’s official Facebook site was hacked by an anonymous group earlier this afternoon.
In the 2pm incident, the hackers changed the account’s profile picture and cover photo, replacing it with images that carrying sentiments supporting the Islamic State (IS) extremists.
The attack began at 2.10pm when the account’s cover photo was changed to an image containing the words “Khilafah Has Returned” with the figure of a man carrying the iconic IS flag.
The profile photo was replaced with the flag silhouetted in the retina of the eye of a woman.
Several minutes later, another photo carrying the image of IS fighters armed with AK-47 machine guns was uploaded with the words “Viva Islamic State” captioned in the status.
The post garnered some 460 likes and 30 shares by PDRM’s followers.
In “revealing” their identities, the hackers posted another update saying:
“:We are :Mauritania Attacker – AnonxoxTn – StingerByte – Mr.Domoz – Th3Falcon – HusseiN98D – Dr’SaMiM-008 – n0name-haxor – hAxOr tr0jAn – BillGate – Mr.Ajword – Extazy007 – Psyco_Hacker – Black Cracker – Virusa Worm – Donnazmi – X-Wanted – De_Reb0rNz – Tunisian Cracker – L’APoca-Dz – Psyf3r – Vortex.”
The “about” section of the page was also changed to “HACKED BY ANONGHOST”.
On Twitter, police confirmed that their Facebook account was hacked, saying that it was perpetrated by irresponsible parties.
“Any information released after this is NOT TRUE,” it said on the microblogging site.
This statement was followed up by another fraudulent posting which said: “We don’t have any relationship with Anonymous. AnonGhost is different from Anonymous, we don’t have the same goal and don’t have the same level in hacking.”
“We are the sound of the forgotten people, the freedom fighter in the cyberworld and our main target is Sionisme and israhell, if you are asking why your website got hacked by us, its basically because we want to share our message and show the world who we are, we are not looking for fame but we have a goal to achieve we supported all hackers teams and we supporte all the freedom mouvement in the world. \!/”
In addition, the group also planned to hack Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Twitter account.

Several commentators took the chance to condemn the hackers, as in the case of Nan Asklinux who said: “if you are a Muslim, you are now holding other Muslim countries may Allah curse you. Love Rassulullah .. hate ISIS ..” -The Rakyat Post
