BUKIT MERTJAM, – A Molotov cocktail was thrown into the compound of a Penang senior Immigration officer’s house at Taman Permai here today.
Two explosions, believed to have been caused by the Molotov cocktail had caused ornamental plants in the officer’s residence compound to catch fire.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor said during the 6.30am incident, the officer and his family were in the house.
“The officer heard a loud noise from outside his house for several times, followed by sounds of explosions twice,” he said when contacted here today.
He said upon seeing the fire, the officer immediately sought help from his neighbours to put out the fire.
“After the fire was put out, the officer found three glass bottles, believed to be Molotov cocktail,” he said adding that the incident had also damaged the officer’s car.
He said police were investigating the motive for the attack.- BERNAMA
