PETALING JAYA, May 31 – The natural resources and environment ministry is unable to confirm any report linking forest rangers with international human trafficking syndicates, following the discovery of several graves in Perlis recently.
Minister, Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said this to reporters after officiating at the Mother’s Day celebration organised by the Selangor MIC here Sunday.
However, he said it was up to the authorities to investigate the matter.
Earlier, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reportedly said initial investigations revealed that rangers were in an unholy alliance, not only with local smugglers but also with smugglers from Thailand, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
On Monday, the police discovered 139 graves and 28 human trafficking camps in Wang Kelian, Perlis at the Malaysia-Thailand border.
