IPOH, Aug 10 – The man who uploaded on social media the picture of a hawker looking at her wares which were strewn on the road at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital and claimed that it was the action of Ipoh City Council (MBI) officers who were also in the picture, has come forward and apologised.

“I’m sorry…I have no intention to defame any quarters by the Facebook status (and picture). I was being emotional when I uploaded the picture and I know now that my action was indeed stupid because I did not think twice about it or the consequences.

“The MBI officers are innocent, they were only doing their job. It was the hawker who pulled her wares, causing it to be strewn around on the road,” the man, who is a student of higher education, told a press conference today.

The 22-year-old man, who insisted anonymity, also admitted that he uploaded the picture just for fun and had never thought that it would go viral over the social media.

Earlier today, Perak Menteri Besar Perak Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir was reported to have called on the MBI to investigate the case as he believed the picture was viraled by quarters with vested interests.

“I have received a report on that from MBI, but I have also asked the mayor to investigate and issue a press statement,” he told reporters after a Aidilfitri gathering organised by the Perak Water Board here.– BERNAMA
