Malaysia finally strike gold in wushu – two in total

SINGAPORE: The wait is over!

Loh Jack Chang contributed Malaysia’s first wushu gold medal at the Singapore SEA Games with a classy display to win the men’s taijiquan compulsory event on Monday.

Barely an hour after finishing a disappointing sixth in the earlier taijiquan event, the 27-year-old bounced back to chalk up 9.71 points to top the nine-man contest ahead of Singaporean Samuel Tan (9.69) and Julius Yoga Kurniawan (9.67) of Indonesia.

Later at night, the trio of Aggie Cheah, Chan Lu Yi and Audrey Chan punched and kicked their way to a surprise second gold medal in the very final event of the day.

They topped the duilian (barehands) competiton, which is a duel demonstration, with the highest score of 9.65, defeating Myanmar and Laos.image
