PETALING JAYA: Entrepreneur Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing (pix) has denied being involved in a public dialogue with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“Let me to say this again. Fact: I had nothing to do with ‘Nothing to hide’ forum. Fact: I knew nothing about it until I read about it,” said Lim through his Twitter account, @limkokwing, on Sunday afternoon.
Lim is the Prime Minister’s special programme coordinator.
The June 5 dialogue, which was attended by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was cancelled at the very last minute following orders by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
Khalid had cited “safety and security reasons” for cancelling the dialogue.
He added that Najib was not happy that he had ordered the event at the Putra World Trade Centre be called off at the eleventh hour.
“Although PM is not too happy with me for cancelling it, but I had to. For safety and security reasons,” Khalid had said.
The question-and-answer forum, which was organised and moderated by the Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam), was set to give participants from non-governmental organisations, bloggers and the media a chance to ask Najib questions.
This includes questions on government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax. – The Star
