Kuala Lumpur Aug 28 (MyTimes) – “MIC members warned not to participate in Bersih rallies! Disciplinary action will be taken” says Secretary General A.Sakthivel
“One behalf of Malaysian Indian Congress, I wish to advise all the members of MIC that the Malaysian government and the Malaysian Police have declared the forthcoming Bersih 4.0 as illegal.
In this regard all MIC members are advised not to participate in these rallies. I wish to state that the party will not hesitate to take stern disciplinary action against those found to have participated in these rallies.
Party leaders will keep a watch on these rallies to find out whether any MIC members are participating in these rallies.
As a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional government, MIC, believes in collective responsibility and respects the decision of the Barisan Nasional leadership with regard to their decisions on Bersih 4.0 rallies.
MIC, firmly believes in negotiations and consultative approach in solving issues and not in combative approach. MIC believes there are ample avenues for people to voice out their grievances and to present their disagreements or dissenting views to the government and definitely Bersih 4.0 rallies are uncalled for and unnecessary.
MIC, being a democratic party, supports all forms democratic process by the people. However, since the Bersih 4.0 has been declared illegal by the government and the Police we warn the MIC members not to participate in these rallies.
I wish to reiterate once again that stern disciplinary action would be taken against any party members found to have participated in these rallies.”
